This week, Dan kicked off a new sermon series, “Catch Phrase”, where he takes commonly-used phrases and relates them to his sermons. This week he used phrases that all contained the word “new” to tell the Gospel message. It was very engaging and creative. The praise band played a new song, “Freedom” and totally nailed it. And the skit team performed a piece about Jesus’ gift of salvation. It was an impactful night for a lot of people, what a great way to start off the new year!
Special thanks to all who came to the Rockin’ Lock-In! We stayed up late, ate lots of junk food, and just had a ton of fun! Happy New Year to all who come to the Journey: all the kids, the volunteers, the Rock-Us leaders, and everyone else! We hope 2018 is just as good, if not better than this past year!
This week, we held the last Rock-Us of 2017! We kicked off with a crazy game of wrapping people up as giant Christmas presents, then our skit team put on a wonderful performance about the true meaning of Christmas. The praise band sounded awesome, as usual, and then Dan gave a message about how Jesus Christ is the ultimate Christmas Gift. Then, we gave out homemade Christmas ornaments that represented all the gifts that God gives us. We had nine kids who gave their lives to Christ for the first time, and nine others who rededicated their lives to Him! What a great way to end the year!
Sometimes in life, we get splinters; problems that we can either deal with, ignore, or make worse. These splinters can grow into big issues in our lives. God wants to remove all of the splinters you’ve left in your life. That’s what we talked about at Rock-Us this week. Dan’s message was powerful and it led to some pretty heavy conversations in our small-groups. Read more about what we learned in Dan’s sermon notes below:
The skit team at the Journey (aka Journey Cafe Productions), now has their own Facebook page. Be sure to check it out!
Well it’s that time of year again… Time to start getting ready for the annual New Year’s Eve Sleepover at the Journey Café! Every year, we have so much fun just staying up late, hanging out, playing games, and more! We have a sign-up sheet on the coffee bar at the Journey. You must have your Permission Form filled out to attend. The Rockin’ Lock-In starts Sunday, Dec. 31 at around 8pm and ends Monday, Jan. 1st at 8am.
This week, Rock-Us was all about sharing what Jesus has done in your life. We had a skit talking about being bold in your faith and not being afraid to talk about Jesus. Then after Dan’s message, he opened the floor to any student who wanted to share their testimony. Great job to all of the kids who shared! Here’s a link to the sermon notes and a link to watch recording of last night’s skit.
ReCreation, a group of talented young adults, is coming to Hamburg this December! Their shows include singing, dancing, acting and more! On December 20th, they’ll be having a Christmas show at the Journey Cafe. Everyone is welcome to come down for a time of music and fun. The show starts at 7pm. Hope to see you there!
We had a great time at Rock-Us this week, starting off with a fun, new game and then watching a skit performed by our very own FORGE members! Dan talked about things that we’re thankful for and how we should be thanking God for EVERYTHING. If anyone missed this week here are some pics of the game & Dan’s sermon notes.
We all had a great time at Camp Andrews last weekend! God was moving throughout our whole stay. The theme this year was “Stand Firm”. It was all about keeping your faith strong through trials and attacks from the enemy. This message was conveyed through both the speakers and the worship time. In short, it was a really powerful and uplifting time for all of us.
